Bhutan is the only Vajrayana Buddhist nation in the world, and the profound lessons from this tradition remain well received and exert a strong influence on all aspects of life in Bhutan.

Bhutan is a popular place for trekking, hiking and walking, but in general the trekking trails in Bhutan are difficult because there are no places to eat or stay in the higher regions, so that all food and equipment must be in campground.

Autumn and spring are the best seasons to go to trekking in Bhutan. In the summer the streets are too muddy, while in the winter the ground is covered with snow everywhere. But despite the difficulty walking, all the efforts and complaints are more than offset by impressive landscapes and very friendly, peaceful and hospitable people which are met along the way.
