The purpose of the sleeping pad (or sleeping mat) is to insulate the sleeping person from the grounds coldness and humidity. What is the best backpacking sleeping pad of 2023?
Therm-a-Rest EvoLite is a two season self-inflating sleeping pad with foam and air channels inside. The outer of the EvoLite is durable nylon shell.
The EvoLite sleeping pad blends the comfort of air pad with the convenience of self-inflation.
The 2″ thick EvoLite uses Therm-a-Rest’s new Atmos Foam—a new type of foam that is lighter and more compressible than the standard foam used in other Therm-a-Rest mattresses. The new foam provides a surprising amount of comfort and support.
Because of this new construction, the EvoLite mattress ends up twice as thick as the ProLite, with roughly the same R-value and only a slight increase in weight.
Therm-a-Rest EvoLite won a 2014 OutDoor Industry Award in the camping equipment category:
“In this product, Therm-a-Rest has combined low weight with a high level of comfort. In addition, it’s quiet enough to ensure a good night’s sleep”, stated the jury.
At 1 lb. 1 oz., the EvoLite mattress is one of the lightest and most compressible self-inflating pads. Excellent self-inflation allows just a few breaths to top off the thick mattress for optimal firmness.
Therm-a-Rest EvoLite promises to be light, comfortable, and warm self-inflating sleeping pad.

Therm-a-Rest EvoLite

100% recommendsFinally light enough, and comfortable enough pad to replace my old Exped. Inflates quickly, and packs really small.
Read a couple of reviews reporting failures, but no problems for me so far.
Evolite is not the cheapest pad out there but I believe that you get what you pay for. I got mine from REI with a 20% coupon so it was not that bad.
I recommend this product.
